What is Kazakhstania?
Kazakhstania is an old piece of land in Central Asia. It is centered around Lake Balkhash and stretches near the Aral Sea. This area is part of modern-day Kazakhstan, and also touches Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and south-western China.
Where is It Located?
Kazakhstania is bordered by big, ancient lands. To the north-east is Siberia, and to the south and east was a huge old continent called Gondwana. Nearby are the Altai Mountains and the Junggar basin in Xinjiang, China.
Why Do We Know About It?
Long ago, the lands that make up Kazakhstania moved around a lot. They finally came together and joined with Siberia and Baltica. This helped form the big land we now call Eurasia. Today, Kazakhstania has wide grasslands and many animals like cattle, sheep, and camels. It is also rich in important minerals such as uranium, lead, and zinc.
