Selçuk
Selçuk is a friendly town in Turkey. Many people visit Selçuk to see very old and special places nearby. One of the most famous spots is Ephesus, an ancient city with lots of history. Visitors also enjoy seeing the House of the Virgin Mary and learning about old times.
Near Selçuk, you can find the Temple of Artemis, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Imagine a huge and beautiful building made a long time ago! Another important place is the Basilica of St. John the Apostle, a big church built a very long time ago. People from all over the world come to see these amazing sites.
The town of Selçuk has a rich history. It was once called Agios Theologos, named after John the Theologian. Later, it became part of the Beylik of Aydin and was visited by travelers like Ibn Battuta. Today, Selçuk still shows beautiful old buildings and traditions. On Ayasuluk Hill, you can see the İsa Bey Mosque, an old mosque built a long time ago.
Selçuk is also close to a long, sandy beach called Ephesus Beach or Pamucak. This beach has many hotels and is a fun place to visit. The weather in Selçuk is warm and sunny in summer and cool and rainy in winter, just like other places near the Mediterranean Sea.
The town has many neighborhoods, including Belevi and Şirince. Selçuk works with friendly cities around the world, such as Dion in Greece, to share ideas and help each other.
