Chocolate-coated peanut

Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience

Chocolate-coated peanuts are a yummy snack that many people like. They are peanuts covered in a thin layer of chocolate. This makes them sweet and crunchy. You can often find them at movie theaters, sold at the concession counter.

One popular brand of chocolate-coated peanuts is called Goobers, made by Nestlé. This brand has been loved for many years and is sold in grocery stores and movie theaters around the world. There are also many other brands that make chocolate-coated peanuts.

For people who do not eat dairy, there are vegan kinds of chocolate-coated peanuts. These are made without any dairy. They use ingredients like sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, and vanillin to make a tasty chocolate coating for the peanuts.

History

Goobers, a type of chocolate-coated peanut, were first made in the United States in 1925 by the Blumenthal Chocolate Company. The brand changed owners many times. Ward Foods bought Blumenthal in 1969. Then the Terson Company bought Ward Foods in 1981. Nestlé took over the brand in 1984. Today, Ferrero owns Goobers after buying many of Nestlé’s USA chocolate products in 2018.

Etymology

The word "goober" is an American English word for peanut. It likely comes from the Gullah word guber, which also means "peanut." The Gullah word itself is from the KiKongo word n'guba.
