Today, Ferrero owns Goobers after buying many of Nestlé’s USA chocolate products in 2018.

Etymology

The word "goober" is an American English word for peanut. It likely comes from the Gullah word guber, which also means "peanut." The Gullah word itself is from the KiKongo word n'guba.
