Šumadija District

The Šumadija District (Serbian: Шумадијски округ, romanized: Šumadijski okrug, pronounced ) is one of the administrative districts of Serbia. It is in the center of the country, in a region also called Šumadija. This area is known for its beautiful landscapes and rich history.

The Šumadija District is home to many people. The largest city and administrative center of the district is Kragujevac. This city has many historical buildings and is a place where people can learn about the past and enjoy modern life.

History

The Šumadija District, like other areas in Serbia, became an official region in 1992. This happened when the leaders of Serbia made a new rule to organize the country into different areas.

Demographics

The Šumadija District is a part of Serbia where lots of people live. In 2022, about 269,728 people lived there.

There are two big towns in the district. The largest town is Kragujevac with 146,315 people, and the second is Aranđelovac with 22,881 people. The district has many different kinds of people living together.
