Artificial intelligence is when computers and machines can do tasks that usually need human thinking, like learning, solving problems, and making choices. Artificial intelligence is used in many places, both in businesses and schools.
One important part of artificial intelligence is called machine learning. Machine learning helps computers get better at jobs like understanding languages, recognizing pictures, making decisions, checking how good someone is at paying back money, and helping people buy things online. Language translation, image recognition, decision-making, credit scoring, and e-commerce are just a few examples of how this works.
Recently, there have been big steps forward in a new kind of artificial intelligence called generative artificial intelligence. Generative artificial intelligence can create things like writing, pictures, and videos by learning from lots of information. This kind of technology is changing how we use computers in many different ways.

In farming, smart computers help farmers. They can find parts of the land that need water or food for plants. These tools also help spot when animals are upset, run farms automatically, and find sickness in plants. They even help decide the best times to water crops.

In health services over the internet, AI is helping create big business ideas with just a few workers. One example is a company that helps people lose weight, which had only two workers but made a lot of money each year.
Computer science
AI can help make writing computer programs easier. It can suggest lines of code as you type and chat with you about your project. These tools work inside the programs you already use, like code editors. However, code created by AI might not always be right. Using AI to write code can speed things up, but it can also cause delays when you need to fix mistakes.

Artificial intelligence can help us use energy more wisely. It can guess how much energy we will need and when, which helps with things like charging electric cars. It can also understand data about weather and clean energy from the wind and sun.
AI is good at watching our planet. It helps track plastic pollution in the oceans using satellites. AI can also warn us early about big storms or times when there is not enough rain. Scientists use AI to study places where people need help.

AI can find deepfake videos, which are videos made to look real but are not.

AI is used to make and change videos. Tools help create new videos or change old ones. For example, a studio used AI to make an entire movie, and others try to use AI to make ads faster.
Music
AI can write music in many styles. One famous AI, Emily Howell, made music. Another AI made the first full classical music album. Some AI writes music for movies, and others make music to help people relax.

Banks use AI to help with bookkeeping, investing, and property management. AI can work even when the bank is closed. It helps catch fraud by spotting unusual patterns.

AI has been used to understand how proteins, which are important parts of our bodies, are shaped. This helps scientists learn more about diseases and find new treatments.

AI facial recognition systems help governments watch over large groups of people. In 2019, Bengaluru, India used AI to manage traffic. Cameras checked how busy the roads were and changed traffic lights to keep traffic moving smoothly.

AI helps people who work in law. It can do some jobs that new lawyers used to do, like searching through lots of information. But it won’t replace most lawyers anytime soon.
The electronic discovery field uses AI to make searching easier and faster.

Law enforcement uses facial recognition systems (FRS) to find people who may have done something wrong. These systems are often more accurate than people looking at pictures, especially when the pictures aren’t very clear.

AI is also used in oil and gas companies to make work easier, predict when machines might break, and help get more oil and gas.

AI tools help us check math problems. They turn problems into steps that computers can follow.
Some smart computer programs, like one made by Google DeepMind called FunSearch, find new ways to solve tricky math puzzles. They help with problems about arranging things and packing items online. Other AI programs, such as AlphaTensor, AlphaDev, and AlphaEvolve, search for better ways to do math tasks. These tasks include multiplying grids of numbers and organizing things.
