Breuberg Castle

Breuberg Castle is one of Germany’s best-preserved castles. It was built in the early 1200s to protect the land of the imperial abbey of Fulda. Over time, different families took care of the castle, and it was expanded many times. You can see many different building styles from the past 850 years all in one place! The castle was never destroyed, so it remains in great condition. Today, it belongs to the state of Hesse and is used as a place for young people to stay and as a museum.

Quarry with climbing path

Near Hainstadt, there is an old stone quarry that has been turned into a fun climbing area. Climbing friends from the Odenwald region look after the paths, which are safe and secured with wires. This area is also part of a climbing club based in Darmstadt.

Art

Sculpture park

You can see beautiful sandstone sculptures by artists like Peter Hörr, Sabine Wagner, Isolde Stapp, Karin Ebert, Marianne Wagner, Paul August Wagner, and Heinz Mack along the Mümling riverside flats.

Every year, sculptors come together for a week to make art for the Breuberg sculpture park. The civic foundation plans many fun cultural activities during this time.

Personalities

Breuberg has been home to some well-known people.
