A cowlick is a special part of a person's hair that stands up or lies at an angle different from the rest of their hairstyle. This makes a person's hair look interesting and different.

Cowlicks are most often found at the top of the head, called the crown. But they can also appear anywhere on the head, sometimes in the front or the back.

The word "cowlick" has been used since the late 16th century. A doctor named Richard Haydock used it in his translation of a book by Gian Paolo Lomazzo. Another, less common name for this hair shape is "calf-lick."

Management

If someone wants to change their cowlick, they can use some methods. They might choose to remove hair permanently, waxing, or have a small cosmetic surgery to make it look different.
