Archery

Finland had good archers at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Tomi Poikolainen, who had won gold before, came fifth this time because other strong countries like the United States and Japan were competing again. Päivi Meriluoto also did well but moved down a few places. Kyösti Laasonen, competing for the fourth time, finished in 28th place.

Arto Härkönen won a gold medal in the Men's Javelin Throw. Juha Tiainen also won gold in the Men's Hammer Throw. In the Women's Javelin Throw, Tiina Lillak won a silver medal.
