Mars family

The Mars family is an American family that owns the confectionery company Mars Inc.. In 1988, the family was ranked as the richest family in the United States of America by Fortune magazine. It has since been surpassed by the Walton family and the Koch family, and was ranked as the third richest family in the United States in 2016.
After the death of Forrest Mars Sr. in 1999, he and his two sons were listed among the richest Americans by Forbes magazine. In March 2010, the three children of Forrest Mars were tied for 52nd place amongst the world's richest people, according to Forbes, with a net worth of US$11 billion each. One of these sons, Forrest Mars Jr., died in 2016, and his four daughters inherited his wealth. As of April 2020, the family's private fortune was estimated at around $126 billion, making them one of the richest families in the world.
A 2006 report noted that the Mars family was one of 18 billionaire families who lobbied Congress to change laws about the estate tax.

The Mars family is known for starting and owning Mars Inc., a big company that makes candy. The family began with Franklin Clarence Mars, who created the Milky Way bar. His son, Forrest Edward Mars Sr., invented M&M's. The family includes many members, such as Forrest E. Mars Jr., John Franklyn Mars, and Jacqueline Mars, who have all helped the company over the years.
The family has grown large with many children and grandchildren, each helping in different ways with the business and other areas like conservation.
