New Britain Bees

The New Britain Bees are an American collegiate summer baseball team based in New Britain, Connecticut. They belong to the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, where players use wooden bats. Teams in this league come from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont.

The team started in October 2015 and first played as a professional team from 2016 to 2019 in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.

The Bees play all their home games at New Britain Stadium. They moved there after the New Britain Rock Cats moved to Hartford and became the Hartford Yard Goats.

The name "Bees" comes from Beehive Field, an older baseball park next to their stadium. New Britain’s motto, “Industry fills the hive and enjoys the honey,” and its flag show a beehive to represent hard work. The city is also called “Hardware City” because of its history with industries like Stanley Black & Decker. The earlier team, the Rock Cats, also got its name from this manufacturing history.

Logo and colors

The New Britain Bees use black, gold, and white for their team colors. Their main logo has the word "Bees" in a Roman-style font. Each letter has a gold outline that looks like a beehive, inspired by honey.

History

Atlantic League

In October 2015, New Britain, Connecticut, got a new baseball team called the "Bees." Fans picked this name instead of "Hammers" or "Hornets." Patrick Day was the first general manager, and Stan Cliburn was the first manager. Over the next few years, the team had some changes with new managers and general managers.

Futures Collegiate Baseball League

In October 2019, the Bees left the Atlantic League and joined the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. They played some games in 2020 and signed a five-year agreement to stay in New Britain. In 2022, the Bees made their first playoff appearance, and in 2023, they reached the playoffs again and won their first playoff game.
