Staffelsee

The Staffelsee is a beautiful lake in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district of Bavaria, Germany. Near the lake are the towns of Murnau, Seehausen, and Uffing. The lake covers 7 km² and has seven small islands. The largest island is called Wörth.

From April to October, people can enjoy boat rides on a ship named the MS Seehausen. This boat was built in 2009 and stops at many places around the lake. The lake is 649 metres above sea level and its deepest point is about 40 metres deep.

The lake’s water flows in and out through the River Ach. The river flows into the lake from the west and leaves to the north. Parts of the lake have special names: the northeastern part is Untersee, the southeastern part is Stegsee, and the southwestern part is Obersee.
