Sumo languages
Adapted from Wikipedia · Adventurer experience
Sumo languages, also called Sumu, are a group of related languages from the Misumalpan family. These languages are mainly spoken in Nicaragua and Honduras.
Experts like Ken Hale have found that there are two main groups. The northern group is called Mayangna and includes dialects like Tawahka and Panamahka. The southern group is called Ulwa. The Ulwa language is quite different from Mayangna, so some specialists think of Ulwa as a separate language. These languages help us learn about the culture and history of the people who speak them.
