Tri-Valley

The Tri-Valley area is a group of three valleys in the East Bay region of California's Bay Area. These valleys are Amador Valley, Livermore Valley, and San Ramon Valley.

The Tri-Valley includes cities such as Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, and San Ramon, along with the town of Danville and several smaller communities.

This area is known for its pleasant climate, many wineries, and beautiful natural spaces. Most of the Tri-Valley is made up of suburbs. The Tri-Valley offers more affordable places to live compared to cities like San Francisco and San Jose.

History

The Ohlone tribe lived in the area around the year 2000 BC, mainly in the northern part of Pleasanton. Later, in 1772, Spanish settlers arrived. They changed the Ohlone way of life while working near Mission San José.

After the Gold Rush ended, the area changed from marshland into farmland.

Climate

The Tri-Valley has a mild climate. Most rain falls in the winter. Snow is rare, but it can sometimes appear on nearby mountains, like Mt. Diablo. Summer days can be warm, ranging from the 80s to over 100 °F, but nights stay cool. In winter, daytime temperatures are usually in the 50s and 60s, while nights can be in the 30s and 40s, sometimes dropping into the 20s on very cold nights. The area gets about 14 inches of rain each year in Livermore, and up to 23 inches in Alamo.

Transportation

The Tri-Valley area has bus services run by Contra Costa County Connect and WHEELS, managed by the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA). These buses travel through Livermore, Pleasanton, and Dublin. They also go to places like Hacienda Business Park, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Las Positas College, Stoneridge Mall, the West Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station, and the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station.

Two big highways cross the Tri-Valley. These are Interstates (/wiki/Interstate_580_(California)) and (/wiki/Interstate_680_(California)). Interstate 580 goes east-west. It links the area to the Central Valley in the east and the North Bay area in the west. Interstate 680 goes north-south. It connects to the South Bay area in the south and the Concord-Walnut Creek area in the north. These two highways meet on the border of Dublin and Pleasanton.

BART trains also serve the Tri-Valley. They stop at West Dublin/Pleasanton and the Dublin/Pleasanton station. The West Dublin/Pleasanton Station started in 2011. It was the first new station added to an existing line. Although plans to extend the BART line to Livermore were cancelled in 2018, there are plans for a new rail connection called the Valley Link. This will connect BART, ACE, and the San Joaquin Valley.

Economy

The Tri-Valley area has many big companies with their main offices there, such as 10X Genomics, 24 Hour Fitness, Architectural Glass and Aluminum, Bay Area News Group, Blackhawk Network Holdings, CallidusCloud, Chevron, The Cooper Companies, Discovery Toys, Ellie Mae, GE Digital, Gillig Corporation, Patelco Credit Union, Ross Stores, Safeway, Shaklee, TriNet, Veeva Systems, Visioneer, WANdisco, The Wine Group, and Workday.

Important places for jobs include Bishop Ranch and Hacienda Business Park. Also, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories employ many people in the area.

Recreation

The Tri-Valley area has many fun places to visit. You can explore parks like Alviso Adobe Community Park and Del Valle Regional Park. There are also special spots such as the Blackhawk Museum and Mount Diablo State Park. You will find trails, picnic areas, and a waterpark called The Wave Waterpark to enjoy with family and friends.
