Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics had indoor and beach volleyball events. The games were in Beijing from August 9 to August 24, 2008.
The indoor matches were at the Capital Indoor Stadium and the Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium. The beach volleyball games were at the Beach Volleyball Ground in Chaoyang Park.
A new volleyball ball was used. It was softer than the older Mikasa MVP200 ball, which made the games more fun.
Events
Four volleyball events took place, and medals were given for each one. The events were:
- Indoor volleyball – men with 12 teams
- Indoor volleyball – women with 12 teams
- Beach volleyball – men with 24 teams
- Beach volleyball – women with 24 teams
