WHAL-FM (95.7 MHz) is a radio station in Memphis, Tennessee. It plays urban gospel music, a type of religious music many people enjoy.
The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc., a company that runs many radio stations.
WHAL-FM is officially licensed to Horn Lake, Mississippi, but its studios are in Southeast Memphis. The place where the radio signals are sent out is in Midtown Memphis.
WHAL-FM uses a special technology called HD. This lets the station broadcast in higher quality, making the music and shows sound better for listeners.
History
Before it played urban gospel music, WHAL-FM was called "Oldies 95.7" and played classic oldies songs until 2003. Earlier, from December 1993 to April 1999, it was called "96X" and played alternative rock music. Later, the alternative rock format came back on other stations, first at WMFS in 2000 as "93X", and then at WIVG in 2012, which also used the old logo that said "Never Blend In".
