Academy Bus Lines
Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience
Academy Bus Lines is a bus company that helps people travel in New Jersey and other parts of the United States. It offers many kinds of bus services. Some buses go from towns in northern New Jersey to New York City, while others travel from places in southern and central New Jersey to the city too. The company also provides special trips and charter services all along the east coast, from Boston down to Miami.
In 2014, Academy Bus Lines bought another company called Go Buses, which now runs services between Boston and Washington, D.C., and also in southern Florida. Later, on September 27, 2023, Academy bought James River Transportation, which operates buses in Virginia. Today, Academy Bus Lines is the third-largest bus company for long-distance travel in both the United States and Canada.
The company has a big collection of different buses. Some of these are MCI D4500 and J4500 models, Van Hool CX35, CX45, and C2045 buses, and Mercedes Tourrider coaches. These buses are used for regular commuter trips and special charter services. For university contracts and other special trips, they use ENC Eldorado, Nova Bus LFS, and New Flyer Industries buses. When Academy works with New Jersey Transit, they use buses that belong to New Jersey Transit and have the NJT brand on them.
Routes
Academy Bus operates many bus routes under contracts with different groups. With New Jersey Transit, Academy runs buses using their equipment in many counties, though not in Hudson and Middlesex Counties anymore.
Academy also runs buses for universities like Rutgers, Columbia, and New York University. They have special shuttles for places like Newark Airport and Disney World. In 2014, they started running buses between Manhattan and Staten Island, and in 2021, they began operating a community bus network for Tri-Rail.
Academy provides buses from New Jersey to New York City and runs special casino lines to Atlantic City and Yonkers. They also have Go Buses, an intercity service from Boston to Washington, D.C., offering comfortable features like free Wi-Fi and water. Academy acquired Go Buses in 2014.
