Amedeo Della Valle (born 11 April 1993) is an Italian professional basketball player who currently plays for Basket Brescia Leonessa in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A. He began his journey in basketball at Findlay Prep located in Henderson, Nevada. After that, he spent two seasons playing college basketball for the Ohio State University. Known for his skills on the court, Della Valle has made a name for himself in the world of basketball and continues to contribute to his team's success.
High school career
Amedeo Della Valle moved to the United States in 2011 to join Findlay Prep high school in Henderson, Nevada. During his time there, he helped the team win the National High School Invitational in 2012. He also set a school record by making 66 three-pointers in one season.
College career
Amedeo Della Valle chose to play basketball for Ohio State after graduating from high school. He had offers from Arizona and Texas A&M but decided on Ohio State instead. In his first year, he mostly sat on the bench because he needed to get used to college basketball. By his second year, he had gained some weight and started playing more. One of his best games was when he helped the team come back from behind to win against Nebraska in the Big Ten tournament. After Ohio State lost an early game in the NCAA Division I tournament, Amedeo decided to go back to Italy to play professional basketball.
Professional career
Amedeo Della Valle is an Italian basketball player who currently plays for Basket Brescia Leonessa in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A. He began his career in Italy with Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia, choosing them because they focus on young Italian talent. Over the years, he has earned many honors, including being named LBA All-Star in 2014 and winning the EuroChallenge the same year.
Della Valle has played for several teams, including Olimpia Milano and Herbalife Gran Canaria. He returned to Italy in 2021 with Basket Brescia Leonessa and had a great season, scoring 18.5 points per game and earning the title of LBA Most Valuable Player for the 2021–22 season. In the next season, he helped Brescia win the Italian Basketball Cup and was named the tournament’s MVP.
National team career
Amedeo Della Valle began playing for the youth teams of the Italian national team in 2009 with the Under-16 group. He won a gold medal with the U20 team at the 2013 European Championship, where he was an important player and received the MVP award. He was later chosen to join the team for EuroBasket 2015, starting on September 5.
Personal life
Amedeo's father is Carlo Della Valle, who played basketball in the top division and was known for his great skill. Amedeo decided to go to the U.S. after a trip to Miami with his mother in 2006, where he liked the lifestyle and wanted to play basketball there.
While at Ohio State University, Amedeo became popular for his unique look and personality. In 2014, he tried to be student-body president in a fun way, promising things like official snow days for everyone, and came in fifth place. He also has a popular Facebook page and a clothing brand called "La Faccia Cattiva di Amedeo Della Valle" based on his special way of celebrating after making a three-pointer shot.
