Cape Fligely is a special place located on the northern shores of Rudolf Island and Franz Josef Land in the Russian Federation. It is the northernmost point of Russia, Europe, and Eurasia as a whole. Being so far north makes it an important landmark for explorers and scientists who study the Arctic.

The cape is situated 909 kilometres (565 miles) south of the North Pole, placing it in one of the most remote and icy regions on Earth. Its extreme location makes it a point of interest for understanding climate change and the effects of warming in polar areas. People often associate Cape Fligely with adventure and discovery due to its challenging and isolated environment.

History

The northernmost point of Europe and Eurasia is a spot that has no name. It lies 450 meters north and 1800 meters west of Cape Fligely.

This cape was first reached on April 12, 1874, by the Austro-Hungarian North Pole expedition. They named it after the Austrian cartographer Field Marshal August von Fligely.
