Chemical laws are the rules that describe how things work in the world of chemistry. One of the most important rules is the law of conservation of mass, which tells us that when chemicals react, the total amount of matter stays the same. This means that nothing disappears or appears out of nowhere during a chemical reaction.

Another key idea is conservation of energy, which helps us understand how chemicals balance and change. This leads to important concepts like equilibrium, thermodynamics, and kinetics, which explain how and why chemical reactions happen.

Chemical laws also talk about how elements combine in specific ways. For example, Joseph Proust's law of definite composition shows that pure chemicals always have the same elements in the same amounts. Dalton's law of multiple proportions explains that when elements form compounds, they do so in simple whole-number ratios, like 1:2 for oxygen to hydrogen in water. These rules help scientists understand and predict how chemicals will behave.
