Coastal Aviation is an airline based at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The airline mainly flies to many places within Tanzania but also goes to nearby countries such as Kenya and Rwanda. It helps people travel easily across East Africa, connecting cities and towns for business, visits, and other important trips. The airline operates from Terminal 1 at the main airport in Dar es Salaam, making it a key part of travel in the region.

The main office of Coastal Air is in Slipway, Masaki, in Dar es Salaam, which is the biggest city in Tanzania and its main business hub. The headquarters are found at these coordinates: 06°52'25.0"S, 39°12'07.0"E. The company’s slogan is “The Flying Safari Company.”

Overview

Coastal Aviation began as a charter airline in 1987. Even today, many of its flights are for special trips, like scenic views or quick medical journeys. But it also has regular scheduled flights, mostly from Dar es Salaam Airport and Arusha Airport. It started with just one plane flying between Dar es Salaam and the Selous Game Reserve. Now, it is a flying safari airline in Eastern Africa with 14 planes and flights to over 42 places in Tanzania, Kenya, and Rwanda.

By May 2020, the airline had about 300 workers. In 2019, around 150,000 people flew with Coastal Aviation.
