Cratinus Junior

Cratinus Junior, also known as Cratinus the Younger, was a comic poet who lived in the 4th century BC. He was part of what is called the Middle Comedy and lived around the same time as famous people like Plato and Corydus.

Scholars think he was active in the middle of the 4th century BC, and some believe he may have lived as late as 324 BC. There are even ideas that he could have been around during the time of Ptolemy II Philadelphus. His work was an important part of the funny plays of that time.

Surviving titles and fragments

Nine titles of Cratinus the Younger's plays have survived.

Many pieces of writing once thought to be by the Old Comedy playwright Cratinus were probably actually by Cratinus the Younger.
