EVB Eagles Südtirol

The EVB Eagles Südtirol are an ice hockey team that plays in two important leagues: the European Women's Hockey League and the Italian Hockey League Women. From 2008 to 2017, they were called the EV Bozen Eagles. Today, they play their home games in Bolzano, a city in South Tyrol, a region in northern Italy. Their home arena is called the Sparkasse Arena. Ice hockey is a fast and exciting sport, and the EVB Eagles Südtirol work hard to bring fun and entertainment to fans in their community.

History

EV Bozen 84

Eishockey Verein Bozen 84, or EV Bozen 84, started in 1984 when four local teams in Bolzano joined together. They played in lower-level Italian men's ice hockey leagues and were known as the Old Weasels and the White Weasels. The team stopped playing in 2015, and their place was taken by a junior team.

EV Bozen Eagles

The EV Bozen Eagles began in 2008 after a local women's team stopped playing. They joined the Italian Hockey League Women and quickly became its most successful team, winning eleven Italian Championship titles. They won the Italian Championship trophy nine times in a row from 2009–10 to 2017–18.

Since 2012–13, they have also played in the European Women's Hockey League. They won this league in 2013–14 and 2016–17, and earned silver medals in 2014–15 and 2017–18, and a bronze medal in 2018–19.

The team took part in the IIHF European Women's Champions Cup tournaments from 2010–11 to 2014–15, reaching the second round in 2012–13 and 2014–15, which was their best performance in that tournament.

Team achievements

The EVB Eagles Südtirol have won many awards in their league. In the Italian Championship, they have been champions 13 times and were runners-up once. In the EWHL Championship, they have been champions twice, earned silver twice, and bronze once.
