Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott is a campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University located in Prescott, Arizona, United States. It is a place where students can live on campus and study many interesting subjects.

History

Embry-Riddle started in 1925 as an aircraft business called the Embry-Riddle Company, created by Talton Higbee Embry and John Paul Riddle in Cincinnati, Ohio. Over time, it became part of what is now American Airlines. Before World War II, it reopened in Miami, Florida, as the Embry-Riddle School of Aviation and later the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute. In 1965, it moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, and in 1970, it was renamed Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

In 1978, Embry-Riddle opened a second campus in Prescott, Arizona. It bought the old campus of Prescott College, which had closed in 1974 due to money problems.

Campus

The campus covers 539 acres (about 2.2 square kilometers) and is located in the Bradshaw Mountain Range, close to Prescott's airport, Ernest A. Love Field. Most of the campus life happens within a one-mile area. The Prescott campus is about 100 miles north of Phoenix. It has around 3,200 students and is set in a beautiful natural landscape.

The Aerospace Experimentation and Fabrication Building (AXFAB) has labs for making and testing materials, including a special area for building projects. The Space Systems lab lets students work with satellites using radio waves and practice controlling them. The King Engineering and Technology Center is where students study electrical and computer engineering, with labs for building robots and electronics. The Tracy Doryland Wind Tunnel Laboratory has wind tunnels for studying how air moves around objects. The STEM Education Center and Planetarium help students and local school children learn about science and space. Academic Complex I has offices, labs, and classrooms.

The Christine & Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Library and Learning Center serves as a place for research and learning. The Robertson Aviation Safety Center has special labs for studying safety and human comfort. The Robertson Aviation Safety Center also has a lab for investigating accidents. The Observatory is used by students studying space and astronomy. The Glen A. Doherty Center for Security and Intelligence Studies includes areas for business and security studies. The Davis Learning Center has a large room for events and many smaller classrooms.

There are five places for students to live on campus, including apartments and suites for different groups of students.

Academics

The Prescott campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has four main colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Aviation, the College of Engineering, and the College of Business, Security and Intelligence.

The university’s programs in aeronautics, air traffic management, weather studies, and space studies are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The College of Business, Security and Intelligence offers courses that focus on important global issues, including business, security, and protecting people from dangers like disasters and cyber threats.

Student body

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, had 3,250 undergraduate students in fall 2023. About 28% of these students were female, and 8.5% came from other countries.

Students can join many clubs and groups, such as service clubs, academic clubs, and athletic clubs. There is also a student newspaper called Horizons that comes out every two weeks during the school year.

The campus has a flight team called the Golden Eagles. They compete in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association and have won the regional championship for 39 years in a row. They have also won fifteen national championships in the years 1993, 1997, 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025. Because of their success, the team is in the San Diego Air & Space Museum's Hall of Fame.

Athletics

The athletic teams at Embry-Riddle's Prescott campus are called the Eagles. They compete in many sports and belong to a group of colleges that play together. The Eagles play in 14 different sports for men and women, including baseball, basketball, soccer, and more.

Students can also join club teams for sports like rugby, dance, archery, and ice hockey. The campus has many places to play and practice, such as courts for volleyball and basketball, a fitness center, and fields for soccer and softball.
