Flathead Valley Community College

Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) is a public community college located in Kalispell, Montana. It offers a range of educational programs and courses for students who want to further their learning or prepare for careers. As a community college, FVCC plays an important role in providing accessible education to people in the area. Students can choose from various subjects and gain skills that help them succeed in many different fields.

History

The college was started in 1967. It is one of three two-year schools in the state that are not part of the University of Montana System, Montana State University System, or the tribal college system. The school offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in 24 different subjects, plus special degrees for helping people with substance abuse and for nursing. In 2015, it added a degree in Brewing Science and built a brewery on campus for students to learn in.

The school's sports teams were called the Mountaineers and Mountainettes, and the Mountainettes won national championships in track and field and cross country racing in the 1970s.

Administration

Flathead Valley Community College is led by a group of elected board members. They choose a president to manage the college's daily activities. The current president is Jane A. Karas.

Flathead Valley Community College has been attended by some notable individuals. Frank Garner is a law enforcement officer and a member of the Montana House of Representatives. Braxton Mitchell is also a member of the Montana House of Representatives.
