Georgia at the 2014 Winter Olympics

Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Discoverer experience

Georgia took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics held in Sochi, Russia, from February 7 to February 23, 2014. The Georgian team had four athletes who competed in two different winter sports. Along with the athletes, the team also had seven officials supporting them.

Because of tensions between Georgia and Russia after the August 2008 war, Georgia's government chose not to send any government officials, only athletes and coaches. Despite these challenges, the Georgian team showed up to represent their country during the games.

Flagbearer

Initially, figure skater Elene Gedevanishvili was planned to carry the flag for Georgia. But because her training schedule meant she would arrive late, alpine skier Nino Tsiklauri took her place instead.
