Jefferson Community School is a special school that is not run by the government. It is in a town called Port Townsend, Washington. The school opened its doors in 2005, and it is one of only four schools like it in all of Jefferson County.
The school is for students from sixth grade up to twelfth grade. In the school year of 2018 to 2019, only 16 students went to Jefferson Community School. Because it is a small school, each student gets a lot of attention and help from teachers.
Academics
In the 2018โ2019 school year, Jefferson Community School had a student-to-teacher ratio of 6 students per teacher. The school had almost no students leaving school early, which is much better than the average for the state.
Athletics
Jefferson Community School is very small, so it does not have its own sports teams. However, students can join the sports teams at Port Townsend High School.
Expeditions
Jefferson Community School believes in learning by exploring the world. Students have traveled to places like Thailand, Japan, Mexico, California, Arizona, Costa Rica, and New Orleans. In March 2017, students went to Nepal and hiked up to 13,000 feet on the trail to Everest Base Camp. Other trips have included visits to Guatemala, Belize, Cuba, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Canada.
