Martin Dulig (born 26 February 1974) is a German politician for the Social Democratic Party (SPD). He has held important positions in the government of Saxony for many years. Until 20 December 2019, he served as the Saxon State Minister of Labor and Traffic and was also Deputy Minister President of Saxony. He worked in the governments led by Stanislaw Tillich III and Michael Kretschmer.

On 20 December 2019, Michael Kretschmer formed a new cabinet. Martin Dulig continued to serve the people of Saxony in a different role. Since 13 November 2014, he has been the State Minister for Economy. He was also appointed Second Deputy Minister of Saxony, helping to guide the state through many important decisions.

Life and politics

Martin Dulig was born in 1974 in Plauen and joined the SPD in 1992.

Since the 2004 state elections, Dulig has been a member of the Landtag of the Free State of Saxony, the legislative body of Saxony. He became chairman of the SPD in Saxony in 2014.

Dulig helped in talks to form a Grand Coalition of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU together with the Bavarian CSU) and the SPD after the 2013 federal elections. He was part of the group working on families, women, and equality.

He also helped lead the SPD's big meetings in Leipzig in 2013 and in Berlin in 2014 and 2019.

Later, Dulig was part of the SPD team in talks to form a traffic light coalition of the SPD, the Green Party, and the Free Democrats after the 2021 German elections. He worked on social policy.

Other activities

Martin Dulig has been involved in several important groups and organizations. He is a member of the Advisory Board for the Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway since 2014. He also serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the Leipzig Trade Fair since 2017.

He is a member of the Supervisory Board for Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the Development Bank of Saxony, both since 2014. Additionally, he is a member of the Political Advisory Board for the Business Forum of the Social Democratic Party of Germany since 2020 and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen.
