People's Khural of Kalmykia

The People's Khural (Parliament) of the Republic of Kalmykia is the regional parliament of Kalmykia, a federal subject of Russia. It is made up of 27 deputies who are elected to serve for five-year terms. This group helps make important decisions for the people living in Kalmykia.
History
The People's Khural started in 1994, following rules set by Russia's Constitution from 1993 and also using traditions from Mongolia and the State Great Khural. Each time people vote, it lasts for five years.
The first group of leaders was chosen on October 18, 1994. More groups were chosen in 1999, 2005, and 2008. In 2008, the group had 27 leaders: 17 from United Russia, seven from the Communist Party, and three from the Agrarian Party of Russia. Their time ended in 2013, and new elections happened. Today, the leader of the People's Khural is Artyom Mikhailov from United Russia.
