Stephen Witt

Stephen Richard Witt, born in 1979, is an American journalist and writer of non-fiction stories. He works to tell real stories about people and events, helping others understand important topics. Through his writing, Witt shares interesting and meaningful information with readers around the world.

Early life and education

Stephen Witt was born in 1979 in New Hampshire and grew up in Minnesota. He studied at the University of Chicago, graduating in 2001, and later attended the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where he graduated in 2011.

Writing

Stephen Witt wrote a book called The Thinking Machine in April 2025. This book tells the story of Jensen Huang and Nvidia. It won an important award called the Financial Times Business Book of the Year Award in 2025. Witt talked about his book on the C-SPAN series After Words in April 2025.

Witt has written other books too. One is How Music Got Free, which was considered for several big book prizes in 2015 and 2016. He also helped write Tim Berners-Leeโ€™s memoir called This Is for Everyone in 2025. Some people liked the book, while others did not.

Personal life

Stephen Witt lives in Los Angeles. He has an older sister who is also a journalist, Emily Witt.
