Suriname at the Olympics

Suriname first joined the Olympic Games in 1960 and has sent athletes to most Summer Olympic Games since then, except for the 1964 Games and the 1980 Games. In 1980, Suriname was part of a group of nations that chose not to participate due to a disagreement with the event's location. Suriname has never taken part in the Winter Olympic Games.

The country has won two Olympic medals, both earned by swimmer Anthony Nesty. His achievements are a source of pride for Suriname.

The National Olympic Committee for Suriname was created in 1959 and was recognized by the International Olympic Committee the same year. This committee helps organize and support Suriname's Olympic teams.
