You can watch TVN through satellite, cable, or digital television. In 2004, TVN became a public company when it started trading on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Over the years, it has been bought by different companies, including Scripps Networks Interactive and later Discovery, Inc.

TVN has many channels, and some of them, like TVN24 and TVN24 BiS, must stay available to other television providers because of rules set by the European Commission. The station is led by Katarzyna Kieli, who also works for Warner Bros. Discovery Poland.

The channel started nationwide as TVN on October 3, 1997. In its early days, TVN faced high costs for foreign content and struggled with low ratings and management issues. By 2004, TVN reached 86% of Polish households and was listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. In 2004, it launched TVN International for Polish viewers living abroad. In 2006, TVN introduced TVN HD, Poland's first high-definition television channel.

TVN has often criticized the Law and Justice party since 2015. In 2021, there was a big debate about a law that could affect TVN's ownership. The law was passed but later vetoed by the President of Poland. Despite this, TVN continued its broadcasts without interruption.
