The Musket Room is a special restaurant located in New York City. It started by serving delicious foods inspired by the cuisine of New Zealand, but later added many other types of dishes to its menu. People from all over come to enjoy the tasty meals made there. In 2014, the restaurant was honored with a Michelin star, which is a sign that it is one of the best places to eat in the world.

History

The Musket Room restaurant opened in June 2013. It was started by a husband and wife, Matt and Barbara Lambert, along with a partner named Jennifer Vitagliano. However, Matt and Barbara left the restaurant in 2019.

In 2023, Chef Mary Attea, pastry chef Camari Mick, and the Vitagliano sisters opened a new place called Raf's near The Musket Room. Raf's is described as an all-day café and serves pastries during the day and dinner at night. Before Raf's, the space was home to other businesses like Angie's and Parisi Bakery.

In 2013, a writer from The New York Times said the food at the restaurant was "ambitious and meticulously detailed."

Another writer from the New York Times praised the restaurant in 2022. They liked the mix of foods from different places around the world, such as Spain, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. They also liked the busy feel of the restaurant, especially around the bar area, where you can't reserve a seat in advance.

Accolades

The restaurant earned a Michelin star just four months after it opened, and it has stayed in the Michelin Guide ever since, starting in 2014.

In 2023, the chef, Mary Attea, was nominated for a James Beard Award for being the best chef in New York State, but another chef, Junghyun Park from Atomix, won instead.

Also in 2023, several famous chefs who have Michelin stars, including Mary Attea, visited the restaurant together.

In October 2025, Apple TV showed a show called Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, where viewers saw Mary Attea’s efforts to keep the restaurant’s Michelin star. The restaurant has kept its special rating ever since.[when?]
