The street has many important places, such as Pariser Platz, Friedrichstraße, and Brandenburg Gate. It has been an important part of Berlin since the 1600s. Many famous buildings and statues, like the equestrian statue of Frederick the Great, are located along this street. Sadly, many of the original trees were lost during wars, but new ones were planted in the 1950s.
Historic significance
Since 1937, the street numbers on Unter den Linden have started at the Palace Bridge, which connects the street to Museum Island. Important buildings along the street include the oldest one, the Zeughaus arsenal, now home to the Deutsches Historisches Museum. Other notable spots are the Crown Prince's Palace, the Neue Wache war memorial, the Berlin State Opera, St. Hedwig's Cathedral, the main building of Humboldt University, and the Berlin State Library. At the western end, you can find the Russian Embassy, the Hungarian Embassy, and the famous Hotel Adlon, which was rebuilt after the war. The street also features statues of important figures like Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt.
