West Sweden

West Sweden (Swedish: Västsverige or Västra Sverige) is a special part of Sweden called a national area (riksområde). This area is one of several ways that Sweden is divided for statistical purposes. It is part of the NUTS statistical regions of Sweden, which help the country study and plan for its different regions. West Sweden includes several important cities and areas that are known for their history, culture, and natural beauty.
Geography
West Sweden is found in the south-west part of Sweden. It is centered around Västra Götaland County and the city of Gothenburg. After Stockholm, it is the second most populated area of the country. It shares borders with Norway and other regions like North Middle Sweden, East Middle Sweden, Småland and the islands, and South Sweden.
Some of the biggest cities in West Sweden include Gothenburg, Borås, Halmstad, Vänersborg, Uddevalla, Trollhättan, Mölndal, Skövde, Varberg, Kungsbacka, and Lidköping.
Subdivision
West Sweden is made up of two counties: Halland and Västra Götaland. The main city of Halland is Halmstad, and the main city of Västra Götaland is Gothenburg.
Economy
The Gross domestic product (GDP) of West Sweden was 101 billion € in 2021. This was almost a fifth of all of Sweden's economic output. In the same year, the money value for each person, after considering what things cost, was 36,000 €. This was 119% of the average for the EU27 countries. Also, the money made for each worker was 109% of the EU average.
