The Winter Olympic Federations (WOF), formerly known as the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF), is a nonprofit organization made up of international sports federations that take part in the Winter Olympic Games. Its main job is to help its members work together and organize the schedule for competitions.

Over time, the group changed its name. From when it started until the year 2000, it was called the Association of International Winter Sports Federations (AIWF). In 2000, it added “Olympic” to its name, becoming AIOWF. Then, on November 14, 2023, it changed its name again to WOF.

Today, the WOF speaks for issues about winter sports and the Olympic Games. The current leader, or president, is Ivo Ferriani from the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation. The group’s main office is located in Lausanne, Switzerland.

WOF Council

The WOF Council has a President and four Members, each coming from different sports groups. One of these Members is chosen to be the secretary general. They all serve for four years. The Treasurer is suggested by the President and chosen by the Council to help with money matters. The Treasurer can sit with the Council but cannot vote.

Members

The Winter Olympic Federations has groups that manage sports in the Winter Olympic Games as its members. As of March 2025, there are seven full members and one associate member.
