Zeekr Intelligent Technology Holding Limited, trading as Zeekr Group (Chinese: 极氪集团), is a Chinese automobile company. It is wholly owned by Geely Automobile Holdings.

Zeekr was founded in 2021 as a single brand specializing in luxury electric cars. It began as a way to make high-quality electric vehicles for people who want something special.

Since February 2025, Zeekr Group has grown to include two brands after buying another car brand called Lynk & Co, which is also part of Geely Holding.

The name Zeekr has a meaningful story behind it. "ZE" stands for Zero, representing the start of many possibilities. "E" stands for Evolving the Electric Era, showing the change brought by electric cars. "Kr" comes from the element Krypton, a special gas that glows when electricity passes through it, symbolizing the bright future of electric vehicles.

History

Zeekr was founded in March 2021 as a premium electric car brand by the Geely Group. It aimed to compete with brands like Nio and Tesla. The first car, the Zeekr 001, was launched in April 2021 and began deliveries in October 2021. By 2022, Zeekr had delivered over 71,000 Zeekr 001 cars to customers in China.

Zeekr worked with Waymo to develop self-driving cars for ride-hailing services in the United States. They also partnered with Mobileye to create advanced self-driving technology. In August 2022, Zeekr started using new long-range batteries from CATL in their cars.

Zeekr raised money from investors like Intel Capital and Bilibili and grew quickly. In May 2024, Zeekr had its first public stock offering on the New York Stock Exchange. Later, Zeekr faced some challenges with customers and sales reporting, but continued to produce more cars and update their models.

Market availability

Zeekr first started selling cars in China and then began to grow in Europe. Their first showroom in Europe opened in Stockholm, Sweden in 2023. Sweden and the Netherlands were the first places in Europe where Zeekr began selling cars that year.

In 2024, Zeekr started selling in Denmark, Germany, France, Norway, Israel, and Australia. They planned to reach Singapore by the end of 2024. Zeekr officially began selling in Thailand in July 2024 with the Zeekr X. They were set to start selling in Brazil in September 2024 and planned to launch in South Korea in 2025. Zeekr also began selling in Australia in 2025. They intend to enter Indonesia in 2026 together with Lynk & Co through Geely Auto Indonesia, after delaying this to 2025. Zeekr Korea started selling cars in May 2026.

Facility

In 2023, Zeekr had three research and development facilities in Ningbo, Hangzhou, and Shanghai in China, as well as Zeekr Technology Europe in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company's global design center is also in Gothenburg, Sweden. The European headquarters and sales office moved from Gothenburg to Amsterdam to access more experienced sales professionals.

Zeekr's main factory can make up to 300,000 vehicles each year, and it has the potential to produce even more in the future.
