1932 United States presidential election

The 1932 United States presidential election happened on November 8, 1932. This was a very important time for the country because many people were struggling during the Great Depression.

The person who was president then, Herbert Hoover from the Republican Party, wanted to stay in office. But he lost to Franklin D. Roosevelt from the Democratic Party. Franklin D. Roosevelt was the governor of New York and promised to help the country with something called a "New Deal". His team included John Nance Garner, who was the Speaker of the House.

Franklin D. Roosevelt won by getting more votes than any Democratic candidate before him. He won in almost every part of the country except some states in the Northeast. This election changed American politics for many years. It ended a long time when the Republican Party had been very powerful in choosing presidents.

This election happened during a difficult time, but it showed that many people were looking for new leadership and hope. Franklin D. Roosevelt became the new president and worked hard to help the country recover.
