Abuja
Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria. It is right in the middle of the country, making it a central spot for everyone. The city became the capital in 1991, moving from Lagos, which was the largest city.
Abuja is famous for its big natural rocks, like Aso Rock and Zuma Rock. These rocks are very tall and are important parts of the city. Many important buildings, such as the National Assembly and the Supreme Court, are built around these rocks.
The city has grown very fast. In 2006, about 776,000 people lived there, and by 2010, the number grew by almost 140%! Abuja is still one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. It has special places for different religions, like the Nigerian National Mosque and the Nigerian National Christian Centre. People can fly into Abuja using the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
Abuja is also a center for meetings and conferences. In 2016, it joined the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities, which means it is a great place for learning and sharing ideas.
The city has many universities, such as the University of Abuja and the African University of Science and Technology. There are also international schools like the American International School of Abuja.
Abuja has beautiful parks and green spaces, like Millennium Park, where people can relax and have fun. The city also has special spots called “bush bars” where people can sit, enjoy snacks, and chat with friends.
