Adirondack Mountains
The Adirondack Mountains are a beautiful group of mountains in New York State. They look like a big, round bowl and cover a huge area. The tallest mountain is Mount Marcy, which stands very high above the ground.
These mountains have many lakes and rivers. There are over 200 named lakes, such as Lake George, Lake Placid, and Lake Tear of the Clouds. The rivers wind through the land for more than 1,200 miles.
The Adirondack Mountains are special because they are very old but still look young. Long ago, huge sheets of ice shaped the land. Today, the mountains are part of a big protected area called Adirondack Park. This park helps keep the forests, lakes, and rivers safe for everyone to enjoy.
People love to visit the Adirondacks for hiking, fishing, and exploring nature. The clean air and quiet forests make it a wonderful place to spend time outside.
