African Clawless Otter

The African clawless otter is a special animal that lives in sub-Saharan Africa. It is one of the bigger kinds of otters and loves to stay in water. These otters have thick, soft fur that is a rich brown color. They have white marks on their faces that go down to their throats.

These otters are called "clawless" because most of their feet do not have claws. Their feet are partly webbed, which helps them swim very well. They live near rivers, lakes, and other water places where there are plants, logs, and branches for shelter.

African clawless otters enjoy eating fish, crabs, frogs, and worms. They use their whiskers in the water to feel for food. These otters are smart and careful. They like to rest during the day and are active at night, especially in cities.

In places like Tsitsikamma National Park in South Africa, these otters are protected. People there even have a hiking trail called the Otter Trail to honor them. These gentle animals play an important role in keeping their water homes healthy and balanced.
