Aix-en-Provence
Aix-en-Provence, often called Aix, is a lovely city in southern France. It is about 30 kilometers north of Marseille and has around 148,000 people living there. The people who live in Aix are known as Aixois.
Aix is part of the area called Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and is in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône. The city has a rich history and is known for its beautiful settings and historic buildings.
The city is famous for its wide street called the Cours Mirabeau, which has tall trees, pretty houses, and fountains. Aix is also known as the city of a thousand fountains. One well-known fountain is the Fountain of the Four Dolphins.
Aix is where the famous painter Paul Cézanne was born. You can visit places related to him, such as his childhood home and old studio. The white limestone mountain Montagne Sainte-Victoire, which often appeared in Cézanne's paintings, can be seen overlooking the city.
The city has many places to explore its history and art, including museums and galleries. Aix-en-Provence is a special and lively place in the heart of southern France.
