Allosaurus
Allosaurus was a big dinosaur that lived a very long time ago, about 155 to 145 million years ago. It lived during a time called the Late Jurassic period. This amazing dinosaur walked on two legs and had a long tail to help it balance.
Allosaurus was about as long as two school buses put together, maybe even a little longer! It had strong legs and sharp teeth. Its hands had three fingers, but they were much smaller than its legs. Scientists first found Allosaurus fossils in 1877, and it means “different lizard” because its bones were special and lightweight.
Allosaurus lived in places that are now North America and Portugal. It was one of the biggest hunters of its time, living among many other dinosaurs. People have found many fossils of Allosaurus, helping scientists learn more about this fascinating creature.
