The American Community Survey is a big yearly survey done by the United States Census Bureau. It asks people in the United States questions about their lives, like where they live, their jobs, and their education. This helps leaders make good choices for towns and cities.

The survey reaches many homes every month. It collects information from all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., plus Puerto Rico. It does not collect data from American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

People can answer the survey in different ways, like online, by mail, or on the phone. The information is kept private and is only used to learn about groups of people, not individuals. This helps everyone understand how communities are changing and plan for the future.
