American Museum of Natural History
The American Museum of Natural History is a wonderful place to learn about animals, plants, space, and our world. It is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. This museum is one of the biggest in the world, with many rooms full of amazing things to see.
The museum has millions of specimens, including plants, animals, rocks, and fossils. Only a small part can be shown at any time. Visitors can see fascinating displays of African elephants, birds from around the world, and even a very large model of a blue whale! The idea for the museum started with a naturalist named Albert S. Bickmore in 1861. It opened its doors to the public on May 22, 1871. Over the years, many new parts of the museum have been built, including the Rose Center for Earth and Space that opened in 2000.
Today, the museum is visited by many people each year. It also has scientists who travel the world to learn more about nature and share their discoveries with everyone. The museum is very important for learning about the natural world and our place in it.
