The Analects

The Analects, also called the Sayings of Confucius, is an old book from China. It has many wise words and ideas from a great teacher named Confucius.

Confucius lived a long time ago. He taught people how to be kind, honest, and good leaders. He believed that families should love and respect each other, especially children respecting their parents. He also said leaders should be kind and fair, not just strict.

People in China and many other places have read the Analects for thousands of years. It is one of the most important books in Confucianism, a way of thinking and living that many follow.

The book has 20 parts, each with short pieces of advice. One part talks about studying and learning. Another talks about how leaders should act. There are even stories about Confucius’s friends and students.

Even today, people in Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam learn from the Analects. It helps them think about being good people and good friends.
