Anchises

Anchises was a special person in old stories from Troy. He was part of Troy’s royal family. His father was King Capys of Dardania, and his mother was Themiste. Themiste’s father was Ilus, who was the son of Tros.

Anchises is best known because he was the father of Aeneas, a brave hero in many tales. Anchises loved the goddess Aphrodite, who is called Venus in Roman stories. Aphrodite told him they would have a son named Aeneas.

After the big trouble at Troy, Aeneas carried his older father Anchises to safety. Anchises helped guide Aeneas to new lands. Later, Aeneas visited a special place and saw his father again.

Anchises was an important part of many old stories and is remembered for his love and wisdom.
