Austria has been part of the Olympic Games many times. They missed only the 1920 Summer Olympics because of a difficult time after World War I. Austria is best known for alpine skiing, where they have won more medals than any other country in the world!

The group that helps Austria with the Olympics is called the Austrian Olympic Committee. It started in 1908 and got official approval in 1912.

Innsbruck is the only city in Austria to have hosted the Olympic Games. It welcomed the Winter Olympics twice, in 1964 and 1976.

Austria has won medals in many sports, but alpine skiing is where they shine the brightest. They have won 41 gold medals, 46 silver medals, and 45 bronze medals in alpine skiing alone!

Some famous Austrian Olympians include:

• Annemarie Moser-Pröll, who won many alpine skiing medals.
• Toni Sailer, who won three gold medals in alpine skiing in 1956.
• Anna Kiesenhofer, who won gold in cycling in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Austria continues to be a strong competitor in the Olympics, especially in winter sports. Their success in alpine skiing makes them a country to watch during the Games!
