Azerbaijan is a beautiful country where Europe meets Asia. It is a landlocked country, meaning it does not touch the sea, but it has the big Caspian Sea on one side. Azerbaijan is part of a region called the South Caucasus.

Azerbaijan is known for its amazing mountains, like the Greater Caucasus and the Lesser Caucasus. The highest mountain is Mount Bazardüzü, which is very tall—almost as high as a skyscraper stacked many times!
The capital city, Baku, is a busy, exciting place along the Caspian Sea. It has modern buildings and old history all in one spot. One famous sight in Baku is the Maiden Tower, which looks like a giant candle in the sky.

People in Azerbaijan love music, dancing, and storytelling. They have a special kind of music called Mugham, which mixes singing, poetry, and instruments. It is so special that the world says it is very important.

Many people in Azerbaijan enjoy sports. Wrestling is a traditional sport, and it is very popular. Football (or soccer) is also a big deal, with teams like Neftçi, Qarabağ, and Gabala playing in big leagues. Chess is another sport Azerbaijan is good at. Players like Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Teimour Radjabov are famous around the world.
Azerbaijan even has a Formula One racetrack! Every year, big racing cars zoom around in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and people from all over come to watch.
