The Balmoral Hotel

The Balmoral Hotel is a very famous hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is right in the middle of the city, on the north side of Princes Street, which is the main shopping street. You can see tall buildings and pretty views all around.

The hotel is close to many fun places. It is near the Edinburgh Castle, which sits high on a rock, and the New Town, a historic part of the city. From the hotel, you can also walk to the North Bridge and down the Waverley Steps to the Waverley Station.

The Balmoral Hotel has a tall clock tower that people love to see. The clock has four big faces and is very special. It used to be set three minutes fast so people could catch their trains on time. Every year, on New Year’s Eve, called Hogmanay, the clock shows the right time.

Many famous people have visited the Balmoral Hotel. Long ago, the comedy duo Laurel and Hardy came to stay there. More recently, the author J. K. Rowling finished writing the last Harry Potter book in a room at the hotel. That room is now called the β€œJ. K. Rowling Suite.”
