The Balochi Language

The Balochi language is spoken by the Baloch people. They live in a place called Balochistan in Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. Some people also speak Balochi in Oman, Turkmenistan, and East Africa.

Balochi has a few different ways of speaking, called dialects. The main ones are Eastern, Southern, and Western. There is also a special dialect called Koroshi spoken in Hormozgan and Fars.

Many Balochi speakers learn to read and write in other languages. In Pakistan, they often use Urdu. In Iran and Afghanistan, they use Persian script.

Balochi belongs to the Northwestern Iranian language family. Experts think it started near the Caspian Sea a long time ago.
